Wilma Maxine (Martin) Blackshaw, 93, of Mexico, formerly of Wellsville, passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at the King's Daughters Home.

Memorial Services will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, November 26, at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Jay Morris officiating. Visitation is Friday from 3-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Blackshaw donated her body to the KU Medical School. It was Wilma's hope that others learn through her selfless act.

Wilma was born on September 27, 1928 in Mexico, the daughter of Floy J. and Edna Frances (Alderson) Martin. On May 26, 1951, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Columbia, she married Lester Joseph Blackshaw. He preceded Wilma in death on June 26, 2021, shortly after celebrating their 70 ^th wedding anniversary.

Wilma graduated from Wellsville High School in 1946. She attended Culver Stockton College and Kansas University Medical School, obtaining her Physical Therapist certification. In 1975, she returned to her profession and worked for the Audrain and Montgomery County Public Health Units for 25 years.

At an early age Mrs. Blackshaw was a member of the Wellsville Baptist Church. Since moving to Mexico in 2001, she attended Centennial Baptist Church and was a charter member of GFWC. In addition, she and her husband volunteered in the Saint Brendan School cafeteria for several years. She loved playing cards, especially bridge, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. Wilma also enjoyed collecting teapots, watching sports and needlepointing Christmas stockings.

Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Ellen (Larry) Thompson and Stacy Marie (Rick) Kaiser, all of Mexico; five grandchildren, Scott (Danielle) Thompson of Chesterfield, Kayla (Brent) Watanabe of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Megan (Derek) Brown of Jefferson City, Sydney (Daniel) Pratt of Holts Summit and Molly Maxine Kaiser of Mexico; eight great-grandchildren, Hayden and Asher Thompson, Julian and Norah Maxine Watanabe, Kaden and Levi Klempke, and Jackson and Colton Pratt; nieces, Susan Newman and Donna Wight; and a sister-in-law, Joyce (Glenn) Blackshaw Freyer.

In addition to her husband, Lester, Wilma was preceded in death by her son, Martin Joseph Blackshaw, in August 2009; her sister and brother-in-law, Madeline Jeanette (Martin) Morris and Calvin Don Morris.
