William "Bill" Lial Teague, 98, of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at The Neighborhoods by Tiger Place in Columbia.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 22, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico, with Rev. Dr. Susan Presley officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Bill was born on November 21, 1927, in rural Vandalia, Missouri, the son of William and Verdia (McIntosh) Teague. He was a graduate of Farber High School and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948.

In November 1951, Bill married Catherine Goodin, who preceded him in death on February 6, 1990. He later married Deborah Gant on June 7, 1991, in Mexico.

Mr. Teague worked as a carpenter for many years, building homes throughout the Farber and Vandalia areas. Over the years, he worked alongside Lorenz Emo, Bruce Leake, and Twentieth Century Homes in Laddonia. He later worked in maintenance for Mexico Public Schools and retired at the age of 81.

Since retiring in 2008, Bill remained very active in the community. He volunteered with Audrain County Habitat for Humanity and spent many years driving for the Mexico Senior Center, delivering meals to homebound recipients. In addition to being a regular blood donor, he supported the American Red Cross by installing smoke detectors. His other community contributions included ringing the bell for the Salvation Army during the holidays and supporting the Presser Arts Center by painting scenery and ushering. Bill also spent the last 15 years volunteering at the Laura Miller George Help Center every week. He enjoyed helping others.

Bill was a longtime member of Farber Presbyterian Church, where he faithfully assisted with maintenance, prepared communion, and taught Sunday school. He later became a member of First Presbyterian Church in Mexico, where he continued to volunteer on numerous projects.

When his son, Stan, was young, Bill enjoyed helping coach his baseball teams. He also loved traveling and cherished trips to Disneyland and Newport Beach, California, as well as an Alaskan cruise. Above all, Bill treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He and Deborah frequently traveled to St. Louis over the years to help care for them.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah Teague of the home; one son, Stan (Laura) Teague of St. Louis; two grandchildren, Jacob (Anna) Teague of Webster Groves and Jenna Teague of Creve Coeur; three brothers, Ronnie (Irma Sue) Teague of Springfield, Jim (Ardis) Teague of Boise, Idaho, and Jack Teague of Belton; two sisters, Donna (Claudie) Tipton of Farber and Faye Teague of Overland Park, Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Catherine Teague; four brothers, Mack, Wayne, Bud, and Jerry Teague; four sisters, Mildred Wilkinson, Jean Branstetter, Velma Motley, and Mary Crow; and two infant siblings.
