Wanda F. Closser, 76, of Auxvasse, passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at her home.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 19, at Arnold Funeral Home with Pastor Toby Hanson officiating. Visitation is Saturday from 1 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Wanda was born on October 23, 1945 in Columbia, the daughter of Leroy and Ruth (Griffith) Payne. On May 24, 1991 in Columbia, she married Doyle L. Closser.
Wanda was a 1964 graduate of Hickman High School. She worked at MFA Oil in Columbia and then worked in student affairs at the University of Missouri from which she retired. Wanda was a member of New Testament Christian Church in Auxvasse. She relaxed by reading, playing computer games or drinking a glass of wine. Wanda had been a member of the Elks Club 594 in Columbia. She was loved and well-liked by all.
Survivors include her husband, Doyle; six children, Stephen (Sue) Pace of Columbia, Brandon (Carrie) Pace of Ashland, Ron (Jan) Pace of Auxvasse, Pete (Vicky) Pace of Gardner, KS, Melissa Closser of Columbia and Tim (Kim) Closser of Jefferson City; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Closser was preceded in death by her parents; two grandsons, Brandon Guilfoyle-Pace and Nicholas Brey; two brothers, Bobby Payne and Donald Payne; and three sisters, Joyce Marsh, Jody Mons and Patsy Sue Short.
The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
