Virginia "Ginny" Ruth Edwards, 71, of Mexico, passed away on October 11, 2022 at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Arnold Funeral Home with Kevin Wilkerson officiating.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Virginia was born March 7, 1951 in Mexico, Missouri, to Alva "Bob" and Marjorie Benskin.  On November 10, 1967 she married Billy Edwards.  They shared a wonderful life together until his passing in 2019.

Virginia attended Mexico Public Schools.  Meticulous with numbers, she spent her career as a bookkeeper with various employers, including Montgomery Ward, A.P. Green, Wetterau Foods and Garden Gate Florist.

When she and Billy lived north of town (which she always referred to as "out home"), she loved being able to fish in the creek behind the house, especially with her dad.  When they built a house and moved south of town in 1989, she spent many hours painting fence and canning vegetables from their garden.

Family was everything to Virginia.  She often said without family, you have nothing.  Her greatest joys in life came from time spent with her grandson and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Karl) Shaw of Mexico; one grandson, Lance (Taylor) Overstreet; two great-grandchildren, Charleigh Rose and Chase Lee of Mokane; one brother, Marvin (Carol) Benskin of Mexico; nephews, Beau (Jessica) Benskin of Paris and Garrett (Terri) Benskin of Hallsville; nieces, Cheryl Ford of Knoxville, TN, Shelly (Ted) Couch of Carlisle, KY, Kathleen VanHorn and Danna Ewing of California.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband Billy, her parents and one brother, Ralph.

Memorial donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.  They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
