Virgil Ray Ferrier, 85, of Fulton, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 24, at Arnold Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation is Friday from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Virgil was born on May 6, 1937, in Mexico, the son of Hugh Everett and Lottie Marie (Rehma) Ferrier, Sr. In June of 1962, he married Carolyn Fay Spillars.

Mr. Ferrier graduated from Mexico High School. He was a Union Plumber with the Local 562 Plumbers and Pipefitters.

Virgil enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and sitting in the woods with the wildlife. He loved gardening and spent many hours in the orchard tending to his apple, peach and plum trees. He also loved to bowl and spent many hours watching the St. Louis Cardinals on the tv or listening to the games on the radio.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Ferrier of the home; two daughters, Tina (David) Koenigsfeld of Centertown and Quenna Litty of Fulton; two granddaughters, Raelyn Koenigsfeld of Centertown and Ashley Fay Ferrier; one great-granddaughter, Madelyn; one sister, Virginia Atkins of Kansas City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh Ferrier, Sr. and Lottie Ferrier Palmer; one daughter, Penny Ferrier; two brothers, Hugh Ferrier, Jr. and John Thomas "J.T." Ferrier; and four sisters, Neoma, Darlene, Iona and infant Eunice.
