Virgil Allen McCormack, 70, of Lebanon, Missouri was born January 13, 1956 to Ray Lee McCormack and Reva Elizabeth McCormack (Branstetter) in Wellsville, MO. He departed this life to enter God’s awaiting arms on July 22, 2026 at his home.

 Virgil grew up in Molina, MO the youngest of 14 children. His life was always based on the love of his family and his faith in our Lord and Savior. During his High School years, he was a star baseball player and later became a dedicated Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved to fish with family and take his Chiefs bus to games.

Virgil married the love of his life, Sandra Gail Creed on July 7, 1978; he never failed to say he loved her every day. In his final moments they were together. Their first daughter Amanda Gail Lansdown (McCormack) was born on April 18, 1979. Their second daughter Ashley Brooke McCormack was born on April 22, 1985. We were introduced to his daughter Rachel Steele in 2011. He leaves behind a family that he cherished and that cherished him.

Virgil was proud of his Cherokee roots due to a strong family history through his mother Reva. He often visited Oklahoma and tribal leaders. He was a Union Carpenter and traveled the United States building multiple commercial stores such as Banana Republic, Gap, and Disney. He was known for his carpentry skills and great leadership. A story that stands out to us is him helping hang glass on the outside of the Green Giant located in Dallas, Texas. Virgil is preceded in death by his mother, father, and numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and countless friends. Even though he traveled he always made sure that he was present for his girls and wife.

Virgil is survived by his loving wife, Sandra McCormack (Creed); his mother-in law Norma Creed (Crawford); his daughter Amanda Lansdown and husband Kyle of Elkland, Missouri; his daughter Ashley McCormack of Lebanon, Missouri; and his daughter Rachel Steele of Fayette, Missouri. He leaves behind three grandchildren; Haley Haire (Barker) and husband Patrick of Savannah, Missouri; Robert James Lansdown; Payton Allen Lansdown; and many siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held graveside on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico, Missouri. The family will have lunch at the Elks Lodge after the funeral service.
