Vickie Young

Vickie Lynn Young, 73, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, October 9, 2026, at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Vickie was born on December 8, 1952, in Vandalia, the daughter of John D. and Martha (Goodheart) Young. She graduated from Mexico High School in 1971 and went on to work for the State of Missouri in Jefferson City and later for Missouri Power and Light before becoming a homemaker.

Vickie had a deep love for animals and was a passionate advocate for the ASPCA and pit bull rescues. She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles and was a shy and quiet woman who appreciated the simple things in life.

Survivors include her son, Jason Young of Mexico; one sister, Janet (Don) Marking of Mexico; two brothers, Paul Young and Jeff Young, both of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

Vickie was preceded in death by her parents, John Young and Martha Neal; and two brothers, Charles Young and Roy Young.
