Stephen D. McCann, 74, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, November 6, 2020, after complications from covid related pneumonia.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 2 p.m. at Lakeview Park in Mexico in his honor. All are welcome.

Steve was born on September 12, 1946 in Mexico, Missouri, to David and Gladys (Stuart) McCann. In 1964, he graduated from Mexico High School.

For a short period of time, Steve volunteered as firefighter. He spent years as a meat cutter and enjoyed his job very much. He later went to work for the Department of Corrections, where he retired, after more than 20 years, in 2010.

Steve will be remembered for many things including his kind, warm heart. He had a love for animals, especially beagles. He often spent time feeding squirrels at local parks.

Mr. McCann also had a fun sense of humor. He enjoyed putting a smile of people's faces, even at the expense of a loved one. He was full of quick wit and silly pranks.

Steve was passionate about the word of God. He spent a lot of time studying and teaching the Bible. His favorite passage was John 3:16.

Steve is survived by his two children, Mark (Carolyn) McCann of Auxvasse and Steffany (Todd) Ingebritson of Hartsburg; four grandsons, Taylor McCann, Tucker Ingebritson, Destry Ingebritson, and Stephen Ingebritson, all of Hartsburg; two brothers, Gary McCann and Paul (Beanie) McCann, both of Mexico; one sister, Patricia (Mrunal) Jadav of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his sister, Priscilla Lewis.

Memorial contributions can be made to The Lighthouse Church in Kingdom City.
