Sonya "Dee Dee" Yvette Brown, 60, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at Pin Oaks Living Center.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Arnold Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Ayanna Shivers will be officiating the service.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until time of services on Saturday, May 18, at Arnold Funeral Home.

Dee Dee was born on September 4, 1963 in Mexico, the daughter of Gabriel Williams, Jr. and Missourie Bell Britt.  On October 17, 1992 she married Larry Brown in Mexico.

Dee Dee, as she was known by most loved the Lord and loved St. Paul C.M.E. Christian Church.  She was a lifelong member, serving on the Stewardess, Missionary, and Lay boards.  You could find her almost every Sunday on the front row dressed in all white.  When she wasn't doing something for the church, she could be found caring for others.  Dee Dee was a giver, she provided home care for many people throughout her life from infants to the elderly.

Survivors include one brother, James Williams of Louisville, KY; three sisters, Shirley Britt of Louisville, KY, Deborah (Charles) Harris of Memphis, TN, Teresa Dawn (LaRon) Burris of Seattle, WA; one aunt, Joetta Tipton of Mexico; two-step children, Turkessa Nunnelly and DorQuise Brown; eight step-grandchildren; 11 nieces and nephews; 24 great nieces and nephews; 15 great-great nieces and nephews; godsister, Johnita Prince; godbrother, Donnell Belcher; dear friends, Sarah Johnson, Bobbette Jackson, Gaye Cook, Vickie Gardner and Jeanette Nickens, along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.

Dee Dee was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Brown; her parents, Gabriel Jr. Williams and Missourie Bell Britt; her grandparents, Gabriel Sr. and Mary Williams; one sister, Teresa Fulsom and one brother Lyndall Williams.
