Sara Catherine Robertson, 50, of Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023, in Mexico.

A Celebration of Life will be from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, at the Teal Lake Shelter, 2600 Huntingfield Road, Mexico, MO 65265.  Casual, informal, feel free to bring lawn chairs.

Graveside Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Susan Presley officiating. Friends are welcome to gather at 12:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church Fellowship Hall.

Sara was born on April 19, 1973, in Poplar Bluff, the daughter of Paul David and Lana Carole (Baker) Parmenter. She married Anthony Dean Robertson on November 25, 1995, in Cape Girardeau.

Sara graduated from Dexter High School in 1991. She graduated from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor's Degree and then obtained her Master's Degree, both in Speech Language Pathology from the University of Missouri.

Sara was dismissive of the sappy notion of a "soulmate."  But in 1994 she met a young man who loved her dearly, and whom she loved so much in return.  Sara and Tony would make their family life in Mexico, MO with Caleb, Ella, and Nate.  And a plethora of pets, including Stevie Nicks, Larry Roundtree III, Mevis, and Mike.  She was their person.  As she was our person.

Sara was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and served on the board for the Audrain Developmental Disabilities Services. She was very active in fitness, teaching classes at the Mexico YMCA.  She ran too many 5K, 10K, and half-marathons to count, and the Music City Marathon in Nashville, TN in 2002.  She gently but firmly critiqued and advised Tony and others on proper exercise form.  She bled Black & Gold, was a member of the Audrain Mizzou Alumni Chapter, and enjoyed all aspects of Tiger Athletics.  Rumor has it she stormed Faurot Field a time or two.  Or three or four.  No contributions were made to any fines, though.

Sara's passions were her family, friends, and her "kiddos" - children to whom she helped give the gift of speech, of language.  She worked with many over a 26 year career, through First Steps, the Children's Therapy & Early Education School, and other programs & services.  Her impact on these families speaks for itself – literally.

Survivors include her husband, Tony Robertson; three children, Caleb McClain Robertson of Columbia, Ella Claire Robertson of Columbia and Nathaniel Paul Robertson of the home; her parents, Paul and Lana Parmenter of Mexico; one sister, Caroline (Brian) Niemeyer of Raymore, MO; one nephew, Keaton Niemeyer of Raymore; mother and father-in-law, Truell and Sue Robertson of Grovespring, MO; Troy (Candie) Robertson of Ringgold, GA; and a niece, Samantha Robertson of Ringgold, GA.
