Eunice "Sally" Elaine Smith, 94, of Perry, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Tri County Care Center in Vandalia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 19, at the Cannon Dam Opry in Perry with Rev. Jason Yancey conducting the service. Burial will follow in Lick Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 19 from 12:00 P.M. until time of services at the Cannon Dam Opry.
Mrs. Smith was born on July 27, 1927, in Shelbina, the daughter of William Barker and Florence Emma (Beckett) Thomas. On April 21, 1945, in Monroe City, she married Donald E Smith. He preceded her in death on November 13, 2009.
Sally worked at Bobby Brooks clothing factory until the early 1970's when she became a partner for a carpet and furniture store. Later in the 1980's, she and her husband, Don, partnered with their son and daughter-in-law, Vince and Zelda, at Hobby Hut Bait and Tackle. After Sally and Don sold Hobby Hut to Vince and Zelda, Sally continued to work there until her retirement. Sally currently was the owner of Cannon Dam Opry. She had also won the Ralls County Oldest Worker Award.
She enjoyed flowers, traveling and shopping with her friend, Mary Wasson.
Survivors include six children, Stan "Butch" (Kelly) Smith of Sunrise Beach, Eddie (Karen) Smith of Perry, Sharon (Jeff) Hicks of Perry, Debbie (John) Jackson of Perry, Sandy (Joe) Howald of Center and Vince (Zelda) Smith of Perry; 11 grandchildren, Tim (Amy) Smith, Lori Montgomery, Owen Smith, John Fry, Cory (Alex) Fry, Marcy (Jason) Engle, Carrie (Tony) Zotti, Katie Jackson, Christy (Kyle) Pociask, Cody (Taylor) Smith and Kylie (Mike) McKenzie; 21 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Carmen) Thomas of Conway, AK; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Sally was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Smith; two grandchildren, Kelly Smith and Tyler Smith; two great-grandchildren, Connor Montgomery and Oscar Pociask; two sisters, Lois McCoy and Doris Cooper; and one brother, Ronald Thomas.
The family requests memorial donations be made to Lick Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
