Ruth Anne Mundy, 82, of Thompson, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Pin Oaks Living Center.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Elmwood Cemetery Shelter. Kevin Wilkerson will be officiating the service.

Ruth was born on August 23, 1943 in Kansas City, MO the daughter of James and Vera (Carpenter) Murphy.  On August 8, 1966 in Fulton, she married John Mundy "Johnny Boy". He preceded her in death on September 20, 2016.

She enjoyed sewing and found some of her happiest moments quilting alongside her dear friends at Satin Stitches, where laughter, friendship, and creativity were always shared around the table. The friendships she made there remained close to her heart throughout her life. She was also a hardworking and dedicated woman who took great pride in her work. She began working at Florsheim in 1968 and remained there until the factory closed. She later worked several years at Stride Rite and continued her career at A.B. Chance, where she worked diligently until her retirement in 2011. No matter where she worked, she was known for her dependable nature, strong work ethic, and the kindness she showed to those around her.

Survivors include, three sons, Tony Goodwin (Trista) of Stoutsville, Missouri, John A.W. Mundy (Angie Jacobi) of Thompson, Missouri and James S. Mundy (Cathy) of Columbia, Missouri; two daughters, Sherri A. Millsap (Rick) of St. Joseph, Missouri and Robin C. Hicks of Bonner Springs, Kansas; ten grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; three brothers, James R. (Jimmy) Murphy (Jean) of Florida, Ronnie E. Murphy (Cindy) of Springfield, Missouri and Donnie L. Murphy (Denise) of Springfield, Missouri; one sister Barbara M. Janes (Freddy) of Springfield, Missouri.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; her husband John; two brothers, Tommy Ray "Murf" Murphy and William Charles Patrick "Pat" Murphy; and one sister Patsy Sue Murphy Robinson.
