Ruth Marie Carlson Eick, 96, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Tri-County Care Center in Vandalia.

Memorial Graveside Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Eric Mattson officiating.

Ruth was born on July 10, 1925, in Duluth, Minnesota, the daughter of John Edwin and Alida Maria (Anderson) Carlson. On October 20, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she married Donald Fredrick Eick. He passed away on April 14, 1984.

Soon after marrying, Ruth and Donald moved to Mexico and started farming with Donald's parents, Edwin and Edna Eick, on a farm east of Mexico.

Ruth has been active in the Mexico United Methodist Church, AARP group of Mexico, and numerous other organizations in the Mexico area.

Survivors include three children, Brenda Eick Gower (Ray C.) of Farber, Guy Eick of Mexico, and Gary Eick (Christina) of Mexico; grandchildren, Brandon Eick (Lindsey), Bronson Eick (Kristen), Gina Salois (Jeff), Alida Gower, Andrew Eick (Anja), Kelsey Eick, Marci Langston (Kenny), Paula McCurdy (Lloyd) and Robby Neff (Dan); 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Eick; parents, John Edwin and Alida Anderson Carlson; brother, Roy Carlson; sister, Ruby Carlson; in-laws, Edwin and Edna Eick; and one great-grandson, Jalin Neff.
