Roy James Lyons, Jr., aged 79, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia.

A visitation to honor Roy's life will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 10, at Arnold Funeral Home, followed by graveside services with military honors at 2:15 PM at Elmwood Cemetery.

Born on June 6, 1945, in Mexico, Roy was the son of Alice Belcher and Roy James Lyons. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Sergeant and earned accolades as a Marksman (Rifle) along with the National Defense Service Medal during the Vietnam War. After his military service, Roy dedicated over 30 years of his career to National Refractories, retiring in 2003.

A man of strong faith, Roy was a Baptist who cherished his time spent with family and friends. He had a passion for fishing, enjoyed playing the lottery, scratching off lottery tickets, listening to music and relished the occasional trip to the casino. Above all, Roy found true joy in the company of his loved ones.

Roy is survived by his three sons: Ronald Fountain, Gary (Tena) Brookins, and Robert Fountain, all of Mexico. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alma Williams; his mother, Alice Belcher; his father, Roy Lyons Sr.; one son, Thomas Fountain; one daughter, Robin Brookins; and two sisters, Evelyn Bruner and Gloria Lyons.

Roy will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the deep love he had for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
