Gertrude Roumal Presnell, 97, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, at East Lawn Memorial Park.

Roumal was born on May 3, 1927, in Santa Fe, Missouri, the daughter of Eugene and Loreta (Bybee) Sharp. On February 19, 1966, in Mexico, she married Roy M. Presnell. He passed away on May 21, 1982.

Mrs. Presnell graduated from Paris High School in 1945. She worked for Kehls Office Supply Store, then as an operator at Southwestern Bell for five years, and finally for Montgomery Ward for 10 years.

Roumal had a passion for garage sales, auctions, and collecting cookbooks and Marie Osmond dolls. She was known for her love of baking, especially her famous cakes and icing, and above all, her love for her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlesa Sargent of Mexico; one son, Michael (Linda) Nichols of Mexico; two grandsons, Curtis Sargent of Mexico, and Brian (Jessica) Nichols of Mexico; one granddaughter-in-law, Christina Nichols of Mexico; seven great-grandchildren, Kylie (Nick) Stumpe, Lily Sargent, Carter Maxwell, Caylin Nichols, Rylin Nichols, Darren Williams, and Landon Williams; two great-great-grandchildren, Cooper Stumpe and Jameson Stumpe, and two more on the way; and a cousin, Charles (Diana) White of Mexico.

In addition to her husband, Roy, Roumal was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Loreta Sharp; one grandson, Jeff Nichols; one son-in-law, Kenny Sargent; and one sister, Marilla Ransdell.
