Roland Oscar Frey, Jr., 77, of Mexico, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Arnold Funeral Home. Rev. Joe Pike will be officiating the service.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to time of services on Thursday, June 27, at the funeral home.

Roland was born on June 8, 1947 in Hermann, the son of Roland Oscar, Sr. and Margaret Virginia (Lautenschlager) Frey.  On April 3, 1971 he married Ruth Ann Dollens in Centralia.  Roland graduated in 1965 from Mexico High School.  He retired from Audrain Medical Center after 25 years of service.

Roland spent his formative years learning the value of hard work and the satisfaction of a job well done. His knack for fixing things around the house earned him the reputation of a reliable handyman, always ready with a tool and a solution.

Above all, Roland's heart belonged to his family. He reveled in the laughter and company of his grandchildren, finding immense joy in their stories and adventures. Family vacations were a highlight for him, creating lasting memories filled with exploration and togetherness.

Roland's life was a testament to the virtues of hard work, faith, and the importance of family bonds. His gentle spirit and steadfast presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his wife, Ruth Ann Frey of Mexico; two children, Chad Frey of Mexico and Courtney (Florent) Siewert of Jefferson City; six grandchildren; Hannah Frey and Emily Frey of Kirkwood, Cora Siewert, Florent II "David", Hadler and Rosalee Siewert of Jefferson City; five sisters, Mary Nichols of Boonville, Gerri (Larry) Hawkins of Bozeman, MT, Linda (Bob) Breid of Amarillo, TX, Carleen (Roger) Hinson of Owensville, Debra (Julius) Fennewald of Mexico; two brothers, Larry (Judy) Frey of Mexico and Steven (Jeanie) Frey of Mexico.

Roland was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Billy Ray Frey; three brothers-in-law, Wilford Nichols, Joe Offutt, Jerry Thomas; one niece, Connita Harlow; one nephew, Jeff Nowlin; one great-nephew, Leroy Browning; Mother and Father-in-law, Raymond and Dorothy Dollens.

The family requests memorial donations be made to First Baptist Church. Memorials may be sent in care of First Baptist Church, 600 E. Promenade St., Mexico, MO 65265.
