Richard Wayne Patrick, 85, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at the Missouri Veterans Home.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, December 6, at East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.

Richard was born on August 10, 1939 in Mexico, the son of Glen F. "Pat" and Mary Evelyn (Kaufman) Patrick. He graduated from Mexico High School and then served in the U.S. Navy, serving four years. Following his military service, Richard was a police officer and fireman for Mexico until joining the Houston (TX) Fire Department, retiring as Captain at the age of 55.

After retirement, Richard moved back to Mexico and played the guitar in a band for many area nursing homes. He enjoyed deer hunting and was an avid fisherman. He also was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

Survivors include one brother, Ronnie Patrick of Mexico; two sisters, Bonnie Mills of Mexico and Glenda Farris of Florida; two daughters, Tammy Smith (Dwayne) Hartegan of Centralia, Cindy Patrick Nelson of Texas, Ricky (Elaine) Patrick of Texas, and Brent (Shaun) Patrick of Texas; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Pat and Mary Patrick.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
