Nicholas "Nick" Raymond Kaufman, 46, of Mexico, passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023, in Mexico.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, at Arnold Funeral Home with Kevin Wilkerson officiating. Burial will follow in Wellsville Cemetery.

Visitation is Monday evening from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Nicholas was born on February 23, 1977, in Mexico, the son of Larry W. and Kathy Sue (Miller) Kaufman.

Nick graduated from North Callaway High School. He became an EMT and graduated as a paramedic from Hannibal LaGrange University. Nick spent more than 20 years as a Callaway County and Audrain County EMT/Paramedic and was an instructor for EMT classes. He was a volunteer firefighter in Callaway County and Chief of the fire department in Auxvasse. Nick's passion was scuba diving. He was a diving instructor and took many students and friends on diving trips to Mexico. Nick joined the entertainment industry managing a night club in Columbia. He then opened The 581 restaurant and bar in October 2017 and his brother Tony became partners with Nick in July of 2018. Tony will continue to carry on their traditions at The 581.

He enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting. He loved spending time with his niece, nephew, great-niece and great-nephews.

Nick is survived by his parents, Larry and Kathy Kaufman of Mexico; daughter, Madison Walker of Ft. Myers, FL; brother, Tony (Debbie) Kaufman of Mexico; niece, Maggie (Daniel) Davidson of Thompson; nephew, Dylan (Simone) Kaufman of Mexico; great-nephews, Cooper, Jackson and Henry; great-niece, Oliva; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Rosie Miller and Frank and Mae Kaufman.

Memorials may be made to the Nick Kaufman Culinary School Scholarship. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265
