Nicholas “Nick” John Mattingly, 32, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Arnold Funeral Home. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park. Elaine Jones will be officiating the service.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until time of service on Thursday, June 25, at the funeral home.

Nick was born on February 14, 1994 in Mexico, the son of Chris Mattingly and Becky Garrett.

Nick lived with a passion for the things that brought him the greatest joy, especially sports and his unmistakable love for Colby cheese. A devoted sports enthusiast, he could often be found spending an entire day watching game after game, and sometimes even keeping up with multiple sporting events all at once. From the moment the Houston Texans entered the NFL, Nick was a loyal and dedicated fan who proudly supported his team through every season. Beyond his love of sports, one of Nick’s most cherished companions was his beloved dog, Lucy, who brought him comfort, companionship, and unconditional loyalty throughout the years. His enthusiasm for the things he loved and the quiet joy he found in life’s simple pleasures will be fondly remembered by those who knew him.

Survivors include his father, Chris Mattingly of Auxvasse, his mother, Becky (Lindell) Garrett of Ashland; one brother, Chad (Lindsey) Mattingly of Moberly; one sister, Libby (Jacob) Mattingly of Auxvasse; two nephews, Carson Mattingly and Lucas Mattingly; two step-brothers, Matt Garrett of Columbia and Devon Garrett of Columbia; one step-sister, Christina (Corey) Lohse of Columbia and his beloved dog, Lucy.

Nick was preceded in death by grandfather, Gary Mattingly; grandmother, Judy Mattingly; grandparents, John and Earlene McCord; two uncles, Mike Mattingly and Bryan McCord.
