Nellie Mae (Penn) Gullion-Downey, 88, of Mexico, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021, at Noble Health Audrain Community Hospital.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 12, at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Bob Stanford officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation is Friday from 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Nellie was born May 23, 1933, in Williamsburg, Missouri, the daughter of Mark E. and Maude (Cole) Penn. She married Lee Gullion and he preceded her in death. She was then married Gerald Downey until his passing.

Nellie graduated from Auxvasse High School in 1951. She was a homemaker until becoming a union baker. She also was a charter member of Kentucky Road Christian Church.

Survivors include her children, Ed Gullion, Brenda (Bruce) Gullion Oser, and Allen (Jo Anna) Gullion; four grandchildren, Bryon Gullion, Heather Barker Maddock, Ashlee Markt and Jennifer Gullion; five great-grandchildren, James Dale Gullion, Ian Maddock, Braeden Mansfield, Masin Maddock and Lily Grace Markt; Gerald's children, Deborah, Beverly, Brenda, Darla and Barbara; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husbands, Nellie was preceded in death by one son, Garrell Gullion; one sister, Bessie Love; and three brothers, Marshall Penn, Lewis Penn and Milton Penn.
