Mildred P. "Millie" Bishop, 99, of Mexico, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2023, at Pin Oaks Living Center.

A private graveside service will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

Millie was born on October 29, 1923, in Mexico, the daughter Beatty E. Dickey and Jessie Mosley Dickey. On July 20, 1952, in Harrison, Arkansas, she married Alfred N. Bishop. They were married almost 50 years before his passing on May 12, 2002.

Millie was housewife. She was also a waitress and bookkeeper at George and Jessie's Café. One of her hobbies was to go bowling.

Mrs. Bishop was baptized at Centennial Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn (Richard) VanBoening of Mexico; a son, Steve Bishop of Stoutsville; three grandchildren, Kenneth VanBoening of Paris, Richard (Tammy) VanBoening Jr. of Mexico and Jessica (Tom) Cullom of Hannibal; five great-grandchildren, Tanna VanBoening, Haley VanBoening, Richard Michael (Samantha) VanBoening, Kayleigh (Brian) Henry and Deserea Cullom; five great-great-grandchildren as well as one on the way.

In addition to her husband, Alfred, she was preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Coil; father, Beatty E. Dickey; step-father, George R. Coil; half-brother, Ralph Coil; and half-sister, Betty Jean Harris.

Memorial donations may be made to Mexico Senior Center. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
