Michael E. Brixey, 75, Of Urbana, MO, passed peacefully with his wife and children at his side on Thursday, September 4th, 2025, at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO. After a long and hard fought battle with complications from Esophageal Cancer, God called him home and he found peace.

Born in May of 1950 in Springfield, MO. to Carl and Wanda Brixey, he was the oldest of 3 siblings.

He married Anita Forrest Blackmore on Feb 15, 1992, in Mexico, Mo. and together they shared a wonderful life for over 35 years. He was a loving husband of 35 years and a devoted step-father of two teenagers/now Adults. He shared his core values with his family, always showing love and reliability to the people he cared for, providing a helping hand to friends and family all the same. This mindset helped shape his stepchildren into the caring hard workers they are today.

Mike lived a life full of laughter, love, a deep passion for fishing, and cheering his favorite football team, the Kansas City Chiefs. He will be remembered as a man who lived life with purpose, laughter, and love. His legacy will live on through the laughter he brought into every room, and the lives he touched along the way, that turned into lifelong devoted friendships in many states. He will be missed by all.

He served two years in the Marine Corp from 1970-1972 during the Vietnam conflict.

A proud graduate of Mexico High School in 1968 and Central Missouri State University at Warrensburg, MO, with a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. He was also a Certified Safety Professional.

He traveled in his career as a Senior Specialist Loss Control Consultant for several different companies that specialized in insuring high hazard businesses like Agri, Propane, blasting, etc. After retiring, he created his own consulting business and subcontracted out his Loss control expertise until his final retirement in 2017.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Wanda Brixey; his brother, Mark Brixey; sister-in-law, Rita Brixey; uncle, Joe Snider; and grandmother, Lola Edwards.

Mike is survived by his wife, Anita Brixey of Urbana, MO; step-children, Jarred Blackmore (Chris) of Warrensburg, MO, and Shalane Blackmore (Bob Dickey) of Mexico, MO; brother, Jim Brixey (Martha Wells) of Mexico, MO; his aunt, Delena Snider of Springfield, MO, niece, Courtney Brixey; nephews, Jeremy and Shane Brixey; three step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, at Arnold Funeral Home. Graveside services with military honors will follow at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, at East Lawn Memorial Park.
