Mary Jo Frye, 80, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at Pin Oaks Living Center.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, at Fairytale Events.

Mary was born on April 10, 1944 in St. Louis, the daughter of Charles and Martha Josephine (Kaver) Wimmer. On August 31, 1963, she married Walter Lee Frye. He passed away on August 30, 1995.

Mrs. Frye graduated from Montgomery County High School. She worked a variety of jobs including the shoe factory in Jonesburg, as a cook at Bellflower Elementary, Decora in Montgomery City, and as a home health caretaker, where she made numerous friends.

Mary loved gardening, puzzles, dancing and her flowers. She also had enjoyed camping and fishing with her husband, Walter, old time country music, and feeding and watching the birds.

Survivors include one son, Walter (Patti) Frye of Mexico; three grandchildren, Tyler (Stephanie) Frye of Texas, Justin (Briana) Frye of Mexico, Sierra (Dustin) Kelsay of Mexico; nine great-grandchildren, Ila, Heidi, Bryce, Braylynn, Averi, Jackson, Jensen, Blake, and Mary Alice; four siblings, Margaret Bryon of Hartsburg, Delbert (Rita) Wimmer of Hermann, Valerie Schlote of Troy, and Ann Smith of Mexico, two sisters-in-law, Joyce Wimmer of Troy, and Fern Frye of Florida and her daughter, Betsy; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her husband, Walter, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Martha Wimmer; one son, Chris Frye; and one brother, Charles Wimmer, Jr.
