Mary Josephine Davis, 65, of Mexico, passed away following a long illness on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Boone Hospital Center.

A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at the Teal Lake Shelter in Mexico.

Mary was born on December 18, 1955, in Mexico, the daughter of Ira Cecil and Nadine May (O'Neal) Day. She married Tim T. Davis on June 17, 1988, at the home of John and Delores Lierheimer in Mexico. They were later sealed as a family in the Chicago Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints for time and all eternity.

She was a 1974 graduate of Mexico High School. After graduation, Mary attended a nursing program in St. Louis and worked at Pin Oaks Living Center until she married Tim.

Mary was a creative and artistic lady. She loved being with people, laughing and having a fun time. Mary told funny stories, was a great cook and enjoyed organizing activities at family gatherings. Her nieces and nephews called her "Aunt Mary Jo" or "Aunt Jo Jo", they loved spending time with her and playing games. She also enjoyed making jewelry as gifts for friends and family.

Mary was active and accepted various callings in the church until her illness. She especially loved working with the church youth.

She is survived by her husband, Tim of the home; son, Steven Davis of Mexico; two sisters, Delores (John) Lierheimer and Doris Nuffer both of Mexico; one brother, John F. (Frances) Day of Centralia; one sister-in-law, Carol Day of Mexico; one brother-in-law, David Allen Davis of Hannibal; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Nadine Day; brother, Ira Charles Day; and one sister-in-law, Carol Davis.
