Mark Russell Unger, 64, of Mexico, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026, at his home.
Private graveside services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Mark was born on July 8, 1962, in Washington, Missouri, the son of Russell Carl and Rosella C. (Schwenker) Unger. He graduated from Mexico High School in 1980. On September 18, 1999, he married Karen Walters in Mexico.
Mark worked as a mechanic for Gilmore Implement before joining the City of Mexico, where he remained until his retirement in 2024. He also spent many years farming alongside his father and brothers.
A lifelong tractor enthusiast, Mark especially enjoyed tractor pulling. He was a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Unger of Mexico; his mother, Rosella Unger of Mexico; two sons, Travis (Joni) Unger of Mexico and Michael (Racheal) Unger of Centralia; a stepdaughter, Tarra (Seth) Thomas of Hammond, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Kameron, Karsen, Rhett, and Kayson; two brothers, Walt (Teresa) Unger of Mexico and Brian (Christina) Unger of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Unger; a grandson, Landyn Unger; and a stepdaughter, Nicolle Blacketer.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the grandchildren's education fund. Checks may be made payable to Michael Unger and mailed in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
