Mark Scott Auwarter, age 58, passed away on October 9, 2026 in Rocky Mount, MO.

Mark was born on July 3, 1968 and was the son of Ron Auwarter and Judy McWilliam. Mark graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1986. He went on to attend Quincy Technical College, where he earned a degree in Heating and Air Conditioning. A hardworking and resourceful man, Mark built a career around his knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Mark began his business ventures in 1994 by opening Showcase Appliance in Mexico, Missouri, where he worked in heating and cooling before expanding into the furniture business with Showcase Furniture in 1996. He later opened Slumberland Furniture in 2001. In the last few years of his life, Mark returned to his roots in heating and cooling, working in the Lake of the Ozarks area.

Outside of work, Mark loved spending time outdoors, especially boating on the Mississippi River and at the Lake of the Ozarks with friends and family. These places brought him joy and provided opportunities to enjoy the things he loved most.

Mark will be remembered for his big heart, generous spirit, and wonderful sense of humor. He had a way of making people laugh and bringing lightness to a room. A true jack of all trades, Mark seemed to know how to fix, build, or figure out just about anything. He often summed up his knowledge with one of his favorite sayings: “I know a little somethin’ about somethin’. I don’t know a lot about a lot, but a little somethin’ about somethin’.” Those words, along with his humor and generous nature, will remain cherished memories for those who knew and loved him.

Mark is survived by his daughters, Haley (Alex) Bledsoe of Mexico, Missouri, and Anna (Brandon) Auwarter of Washington, Missouri; Granddaughter Emma Walker of Mexico, Missouri; his sister, Kim (Roy) Roesch of St. Louis, Missouri; and his mother, Judy (Gary) Lake of Monroe City, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father, Ron Auwarter.

Mark leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, laughter, and memories that will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.

A private funeral service will be held with family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Arnold Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses and in memory of Mark.
