Velda Louise Messick Conway was born on October 1, 1943 in Cedar Springs, MO, the youngest child of Lena and Onis Messick.  Louise passed away on September 10, 2025.

Louise became an RN after studying nursing at St. John Hospital in Springfield, MO, dedicating nearly 40 years to nursing. In her later years, she became an avid quilter, delighting in making and gifting quilts to her friends and family.

In addition to her parents, Louise was preceded in death by two brothers, Al and Ray Messick; and three sisters, Vada Tinsley, Pearl Haynes, and Ruby Messick.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Christina (Ralph) Nelson of Vandalia MO; grandchildren, Rebecca (Jed) Edwards and their children, Joel and Ruby, all of Farber, MO, Rachel (Nick) Wesslak and their child, Carter, all of Vandalia, MO, Ryan (Katie) Nelson and their children, Alice and George, all of Franklin, IN, and Renee Nelson of Norwalk, IA; her son, Craig (Shellie) Conway of El Dorado Springs, MO; and two step-grandchildren, Carina Guajardo and her children, Kyndel and Knoxlee, of Ft. Scott, KS, and Jared Guajardo of Nevada, MO.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Monday, September 15, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mexico, MO. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Donaldo Sonntag officiating.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, September 16, at Tennessee Chapel Cemetery in Cedar Springs, MO.
