Louis Wayne
Whitaker
Sep 23, 1955 — Oct 8, 2025
Louis Wayne Whitaker, 70, of Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at his home.
A celebration of life will be held on October 18, 2025 at Hardin Park Gazebo from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M. with a reading and eulogy at 2:00 P.M.
Louis was born on September 23, 1955 in Mexico, the son of Louis M. and Bonnie (Forsythe) Whitaker. On July 29, 1977 he married Sue Early in Mexico.
Louis was an avid outdoorsman whose love for hunting and fishing was a defining part of his life. Trout fishing at Bennett Springs held a special place in his heart, but his most cherished memories were made alongside his father at the family cabin, where the two bonded over their shared passion for the outdoors. This love of the outdoors was passed down to his grandson, Breckin. Louis also had a deep love for motorcycles and the open road, always chasing adventure on two wheels. He found great joy in spending time with his family and "Poppy's pals at Nini's house," where laughter and love were always in abundance. One of his favorite routines was taking his beloved dogs for a ride in his "yard ornament" to "check his crops"—a tradition that usually involved surveying the neighbors' fields. Louis lived life with heart, humor, and a deep appreciation for simple pleasures.
Survivors include, his mother, Bonnie Whitaker of Mexico; wife, Sue Whitaker of Mexico; daughter, Jennifer Whitaker Connell of Mexico; five grandchildren, Breckin (Carlee) Whitaker, TobyAnn (Edwin) Whitaker, Ella Connell, Layla Reynolds, Paige Reynolds; three great-grandchildren, Waylon Abbott, Hazel Reynolds, Oaklee Whitaker; one sister, Anne (Marino) Garcia of Cincinnati, OH; five sisters-in-law, Pat (Wayne) Lunsford of Mexico, Phyllis (Gary) Jones of Mexico, Paula (David) Early of Mexico, Penny (Kenny) Mechlin of Mexico, Patty Marie Early of Mexico; one brother-in-law, Chuck (Christy) Early of Mexico and numerous nieces and nephews.
Louis was preceded in death by his father, Louis Whitaker; grandparents, Claude and Jewell Dee Forsythe, Bert and Bertha Whitaker; two uncles, Donald Ray Forsythe, Claude "Bud" Forsythe, Jr.; one cousin, Richard Whitaker; one son-in-law, Timothy Connell; father-in-law, Paul Early; three brother-in-laws, Paul "Dud" Early, Jr., Patrick "Rick" Early, Peter "Tom" Early.
The family requests in lieu of flowers memorial donations be designated to Patty Cox for the harrowing heart journey for baby Dakota Cox. Dakota is the great-grandson of Patty and Al Cox who stood up with Louis and Sue 48 years ago. They've remained close despite the physical distance between them. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
