Lois Davenport Polacek, age 70, of Mexico, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 6, 2022 after a battle with cancer.

Lois was born to Hadley and Rosalie (Beasley) Davenport on December 16, 1951.  She attended grades one – six at Hedge-Dale School, a one-room schoolhouse near Benton City and Rush Hill.  She then attended Hardin Junior High and graduated from Mexico High School in 1970.

On February 14, 1970, she was married to her best friend, Alan W. Polacek who preceded her in death.  She was the mother of two beautiful daughters, Aimee (Terry) Myers of Mexico and Jennifer Polacek-Brooks of Columbia, both survive.  She also is survived by her beloved grandchildren, David Myers, Rachal Myers and Avery Brooks.  In addition, she has three great-grandchildren, Connor and Emelyn Myers and Parker Vanboening, all of Mexico, whom she adored.  She is survived by two brothers, Fred (Brenda) and Lawrence (Wanda) Davenport, and mother-in-law, Mary Polacek, all of Mexico; brothers-in-law, Tim (Joyce) Polacek of Laddonia and Chris (Robin) Polacek of Wisconsin.  She had several special friends and many nieces and nephews.

Lois was a stay-at-home wife and mother for several years.  She then worked some short-term jobs early in her working life before going to work for A.P. Green Refractories, where she worked from 1979 until the last day the plant was open in April of 2002.  She then worked for a short time at Martinsburg Bank and United Credit Union before beginning to work for Mexico Public Schools for ten years, retiring on December 31, 2014.

In addition to her parents and loving husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Davenport; and her father-in-law, Clarence Polacek.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, November 10 at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Bryce Kristofferson officiating.  Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 10, from 10:00 A.M. until time of services at the funeral home.

Lois was an active member of Centennial Baptist Church until her illness forced her to resign her positions.  Memorials are suggested to Centennial Baptist Church, Central Missouri Honor Flight or a charity of the donor's choice.  Memorial may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S.
