Lenard Leon Schmidt, 73, of Auxvasse, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at New Florence Care Center.

Graveside Services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 18, at High Point Cemetery with Kevin Wilkerson officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the cemetery.

Lenard was born on September 18, 1950, in Mexico, the son of Harry Joseph and Iva Mae (Grisham) Schmidt.

Lenard and his brother, Roger, drove trucks together when they were younger. When time allowed, they would watch a football game between jobs. Lenard enjoyed meeting people which led him to working at a truck stop and convenience store. After leaving the truck stop, Lenard became a crop insurance adjuster for over 28 years. He made many friends through adjusting and thoroughly enjoyed working with the farm families.

Mr. Schmidt enjoyed gardening and spending time with family. He was also people person and loved to visit for hours.

Lenard is survived by three daughters, Tonya Emery, Rebecca Schmidt and Alexea Schmidt; Doreen Schmidt, the mother of Rebecca and Alexea; four siblings, Harlan Schmidt, Mary Copeland, Floyd Schmidt and Linda Donahue; and numerous extended family members.

He was preceded in death by five siblings, Peggy Maylee, Buddy Schmidt, Jerry Schmidt, Roger Schmidt and Patty Plaisted.
