Lawrence R. Kessler passed away peacefully on June 17, 2025.

Larry was born November 18, 1933, in Marshall, MO to Lawrence Kessler and Lorene (Hayob) Kessler.

Larry's life was defined by a work hard, play hard attitude, dedication to his family, and devotion to his faith.

On May 25, 1957, he married Joan (Holtmeyer) Kessler, and they raised seven children together.

Larry worked as an engineer in the fire brick industry. When he wasn't at work, Larry taught the kids everything from water skiing to ice skating, swimming and riding bikes, you name it, he showed them how.

Larry was the ultimate handyman. His family even made him a custom - embroidered pair of coveralls with "Handyman" stitched on the pocket. He repaired everything around the house, the cars, and helped with maintenance at his church.

Larry was transferred to Maryland with his employer, Kaiser Refractories. Almost two decades later he was able to transfer back to Missouri in 1982.

Over the years Larry and Joan welcomed fifteen grandchildren that loved to play at their home just north of Mexico. After fifty years of marriage, Joan passed away in 2007.

Larry threw himself into volunteering at St. Brendan, acting and taking classes at Presser Performing Arts Center, and researching genealogy.

On April 26, 2013, Larry married the second love of his life, Mae Guillford. They enjoyed their time with friends and family, traveling, watching sports, playing cards, and their Catholic faith.

Larry was preceded in death by his wife Joan (Holtmeyer) Kessler, their son Robert Kessler, and infant twins John and James Kessler.

Survivors include:  Mae Guilford of Columbia, MO; Ron Kessler of Cumberland, MD; Laura Kessler - Hughes (Harry) of Cumberland, MD; David Kessler (Shelly) of Clark, MO; Kathy Love (Joe) of Mahomet, IL; Joe Kessler (Jana) of Lenexa, KS; and Kristi Williams (Jim) of Mexico, MO; along with fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 26, at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Columbia, Missouri.

Graveside Services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at St. Francis Borgia Cemetery in Washington, Missouri.
