LaVerne Clement, 93, of Mexico, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at King's Daughters Home.

Private Graveside Services were held at East Lawn Memorial Park.

LaVerne was born on December 31, 1930, in Mexico, the daughter of James McMurray and Ruth Olive (Pearson) Hill.  She married Ray Clement on March 30, 1952.

LaVerne graduated from Mexico High School in 1949. She attended the Practical Nursing Program in Mexico from 1968-69, and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Audrain Medical Center as an OR and Recovery nurse from 1969 to around 1981. Along with her husband Ray, LaVerne belonged to the Mexico Artists Guild and enjoyed tole and water color painting, and going to art shows with Ray, who is also a well-known local artist. She managed the Clement Fine Art Gallery on the second floor of the Homemaid Shop. She also enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crafts.

She is survived by her husband, Ray Clement; one daughter, Sharon Ruth Clement; one son, James William Clement; and several nieces and nephews.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Kenneth Hill; and a sister, Letha (Hill) Davenport Holdeman.
