Kenneth Olman Denton, 90, of Mexico, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico.
A Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Bryce Kristofferson officiating.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Kenneth was born on February 25, 1933, in Iberia, the son of Olman and Geneva (Moss) Denton.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, obtaining the rank of Corporal. He was a firefighter in Ft. Leonard Wood for 30 years, retiring as Assistant Fire Chief. He was also a farmer and enjoyed raising cattle.
Kenneth and Wanda loved going to Texas, especially the Rio Grande Valley. They also traveled to many parts of the country in their fifth wheel. He was very friendly and never met a stranger.
Mr. Denton loved to dance and enjoyed listening to country music. Spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were times he cherished.
Survivors include his loving companion of many years, Wanda Leach of Mexico; son, Steven Denton of Iberia; Wanda's son, Steve Leach of Mexico; two grandchildren, Jessica Denton Atkisson of Iberia and Ameila (Justin) Denton Marks of Lake Ozark; five great-grandchildren, Dylan Atkisson, Devin Atkisson, Ariel Atkisson, Payton Beaston and Damian Marks; brother-in-law, Doyle (Leona) Hogue of Iberia; nine nieces and nephews, Rob (Kim) Pendleton of Dixon, Shelia (Kerry) Copeland of Dixon, Dan (Janet) Denton of Auxvasse, Doyle (Susan) Hogue, Jr. of Iberia, Pat (Bill) Hogue of Iberia, Dennis Hogue of Iberia, Lynn Farrow of Iberia, Jack Hogue of Iberia and Diane Luttrell of Iberia; and many cousins.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Olman Denton and Geneva Denton Kelley; step-father, Lonnie Kelley; former spouse, Erma Hogue Denton; daughter, Vickie Sue Denton; brother, Bill Denton; one sister, Geraldine Pendleton; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Fred Hogue and Jenny Irwin Hogue; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Hogue and Bob Pendleton; two sisters-in-law, Martha Denton and Doris Hogue; one nephew, Ronnie Pendleton; one niece, Sara Hogue; special friend, Cheryl Leach; and several dogs, Mike, Cody and Robin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Missouri Honor Flight. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson St., Mexico, MO 65265.
