Kelvin "Kelly" Ray Young, 68, of Conyers, Georgia, passed peacefully with his wife at his side on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 23, at South Fork Presbyterian Church in Perry.  Pastor John Grimmett will be officiating the service.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, August 22, at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico.

Kelvin was born on February 26, 1957 in Germany, the son of Marvin Kenneth and Dorothy Nadine (Booth) Young.  On September 22, 1979 he married Susan Curtis at the Laddonia Christian Church in Laddonia, Missouri. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Conyers, Georgia and enjoyed coaching many years of coaching for Upwards Basketball with the youth.

Kelly will be remembered as a man who lived life with purpose, laughter, and love. A proud graduate of Community R-6 High School and the University of Central Missouri, with a master's degree in Occupational Safety Management, he built a career marked by dedication and deep connections at places like Harnischfeger, AP Green Refractories, Beech Aircraft, and Acuity Brands. Kelly's friendships spanned states and decades, rooted in his generosity, humor, and unwavering loyalty. He was an active member of the Sigma Tau Gamma Alumni Association and cherished time spent with his fraternity brothers. He embraced adventures in his coach, exploring the country. Whether scuba diving, playing cards, or telling stories filled with laughter, Kelly's presence lit up every room. Perhaps nowhere was his joy more evident than in his cherished role as Santa Claus, driving his Eight N Ford tractor and "Polar Express" through parades and gatherings, spreading the magic of the season with the same warmth and faith he brought to every part of his life.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Young; his mother, Nadine Young; one son, Kenneth (Frances) Young; one daughter, Laura (Terry) Lakes and one grandchild, Alayah Lakes.

Kelly was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Kenneth Young.
