Kay Lynne Bates, 66, of Auxvasse, passed away on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 21, at Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Visitation is Friday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Kay was born on October 18, 1955, in Mexico, the daughter of William Raymond and Margaret Louise (Henage) Love. On June 17, 1978 at Eastside Christian Church in Auxvasse, she married Billy Dean Bates.

Mrs.  Bates was a 1974 graduate of North Callaway High School. She worked many years for Moorman Feed Company and had been a cook at North Callaway High School. She also cared of her grandchildren.

Kay loved to sew, embroider and crochet. She had given away many blankets over the years. She also enjoyed fishing and was an exceptional cook. Most of all, she loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Billy Ray Bates of Auxvasse, Jennifer Louise (James) Stiers of Calwood and James Eric Bates of Mokane; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Margaret Rae (Larry) Healy of Martinsburg; one brother-in-law, Bobby (Jill) Bates of Steedman; and many nieces and nephews.

Kay was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Sonny Love.
