Karen Leah (Jacobs) Stephens-Buffington, 69, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at her home.

A private graveside service will be held.

Karen was born on June 6, 1956 in Mexico, the daughter of Elgin "Jake" Lee and Hazel Lorraine (Cornelison) Jacobs.

Karen spent the first 22 years of her adult life as a wife and stay-at-home mother.  She was always happiest when she was providing nurture and care for someone. Karen spent nearly 30 years working at Mexico Cinema Three, where she was known for her dedication and friendly presence. She took great pride in her flower garden, which reflected the care and beauty she brought into the lives of those around her. A talented cook, Karen loved entertaining family and friends, always making gatherings feel special. Weekends spent with her family at the Lake of the Ozarks were especially dear to her and created many cherished memories. She also enjoyed music, dancing and embraced life with joy, warmth, and grace.

Survivors include one daughter, Jennifer (Jonathon) Frisbie of Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Lillian (Michael) Keeney of Jefferson City, Henley, Wyatt and Willow; one sister, Debbie (Everett) Farrah of Mexico and one nephew, Keith (Mechelle) Allison of Charlotte, NC.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, "Jake" and Lorraine Jacobs.
