Joyce Marie Creed, 89, of Centralia, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Pin Oaks Nursing Center in Mexico.

Graveside memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Berea Cemetery. Rev. Shawn Martincic will be officiating the service.

Joyce was born on September 23, 1934 in Roscoe, Texas, the daughter of JT and Estelle Ellis.  On November 10, 1951 she married John "Jim" Creed in Roby, Texas.  Jim preceded her in death on June, 18, 2007.  Later she met Mr. Alfred Emily of Centralia whom she spent 10 special years.

Reading and working word puzzles were ways that Joyce would pass her free time.  She also enjoyed crocheting.  Joyce was a true homemaker; she grew her own garden and canned the harvest from the garden.  She was proud of her Texas heritage and her favorite flower was the yellow rose of Texas.  Joyce was a member of the Pentecostal Church and enjoyed serving the Church.

Survivors include three children, Alta (Bill) Wilkerson of Mexico, Tom (Shelia) Creed of Madison, Donia (Joe) Jesse of Columbia; one step-daughter, Teresa (Al) Weger of Taylorville, IL; nine grandchildren, Christine (Jason) Logston of Mexico, Andy Creed of Mexico, Michael (Tanya) Fisher of Hallsville, Monte Fisher of Columbia, Gage Long of Holts Summit, Justin (Amber) Jesse of Centralia, Brandon (Debbie) Jesse of St. Louis, Danielle (Colbey) Voss of Germantown, IL, Holly (Ben) Haynes of Forsyth, IL; 12 great grandchildren, Sophia Logston, Brooks Voss, Rayni (Zach) Payne, Michael Fisher, Jr., Hannah Fisher, Corey (Ariell) Heather, Cheyenne (Connor) Brooks, Devon Overbeck, Alyssia Jesse, Breanne Jesse, Clayton Jesse, Owen Haynes; seven great-great grandchildren, Greyson Heather, Griffin Heather, Briar Payne, Dawson Payne, Scarlett Payne, Colt Brooks, Camreigh Brooks; three nieces, Ellen (Ron) Gardiner of O'Fallon, Jodi Barletto of Redding, CA, Virginia Maloy of Texas; three nephews, Ron Lloyd of Redding, CA, Michael Dawson of Sacramento, CA, Bryan (Regina) Hoffman of Lohman, one daughter-in-law, Sue Creed of Mexico; one step-brother, Roy (Linda) Roper of Cannon City, CO and her partner of 10 years, Alfred Emily of Centralia.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jim" Creed; parents, JT and Estelle Ellis; three sisters, Donia Maloy, Nell Hoffman, Priscilla Gooch; one step-brother, Melvin Roper; two nieces, Sue Davis, Teresa Bisemeyer; three nephews, Gary Hoffman, Johnny Trout and Frank Birkland.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the United Pentecostal Church of Mexico. Memorials may be sent in care of United Pentecostal Church, 1427 W Monroe St, Mexico, MO 65265.
