Joyce Jeanne
Ball
Aug 21, 1941 — Mar 7, 2025
Joyce Jeanne (Beatty) Ball, 83, passed away peacefully after a life well-lived on Friday, March 7th, 2025, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis, MO, with her children by her side.
Joyce was born in Mexico, MO, and remained a country girl at heart, fondly recalling her childhood days working alongside her parents on the family farm, swimming with her brother in the pond and going to church as a family. After meeting her husband, she embraced life as a preacher's wife, ministering throughout the Midwest at Christian churches including Friendship, Hayscreek, Waterloo, South Telegraph, Eminence, Oak Grove, Callao, and House Springs. She and her husband were both proud charter members of Kentucky Road Christian Church in Mexico, MO.
Joyce's greatest joys and accomplishments were her faith and family. She started each day with prayer and always shared that her favorite time was when her family was all around her, which they were until the very end. She would reflect on her life's roles of being a witness to God, a mother, a preacher's wife, an "extra grandmother" for children she cared for in her home, and a kindergarten teacher. Her caring spirit could be seen in her joy when baking treats for others (especially with her daughter), adoring animals, and checking in on loved ones with a phone call. She would advise others to read their Bible daily and watch the news - both of which inform and prepare you.
She is survived by her son, John Anthony Ball; daughter, Jeanne (Nick) Dohr; granddaughter, Candace (Ryan) Lesh; and cherished granddogs, Luke, Rey, and Molly, all of St. Louis, MO. She also leaves behind her brother, James (Linda) Beatty; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Kenny) Tiller, Betty (Chuck) Ball, and Sue Ann (Hank) Hagemeyer; along with nieces, nephews, cousins, her Kirkwood Road Christian Church family, and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, John Nelson Ball; daughter, Jane Ann Ball; parents, John and Alice Beatty; in-laws, Lebbius and Sue Ball; brother-in-law, Chuck Ball; and nephews, Randy and Danny Ball.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Kentucky Road Christian Church, 716 N Kentucky St, Mexico, MO 65265. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m., followed by her celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at Kentucky Road Christian Church.
Memorial donations may be made to Kentucky Road Christian Church, Stray Rescue of St. Louis, or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson St., Mexico, MO 65265.
