Jerry Ray Hoagland, 70, of Mexico, went to be with his heavenly father on Friday, February 27, 2026, with his wife by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Kentucky Road Christian Church. Burial will follow in the Vandalia Cemetery. Rev. Cody Adams will be officiating the service.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, March 2, at Arnold Funeral Home.

Jerry was born on August 3,1955 in Mexico, Mo the son of Richard Allen Hoagland and Neal (Riney) Hoagland, O'Leary.  He married the love of his life, Karen Oliver on July 22, 1978. God blessed them with 47 wonderful years together.

Jerry was a 1973 graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 High School and attended Mexico Vo-Tech to obtain his Industrial Electricity certificate.

Jerry worked at Harbison-Walker Refractories in Vandalia, Mo 41 years.  He held several positions during his career. The last several years he was an electrician. He took great pride in his work and the many friendships he formed throughout his career.

Jerry found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He especially enjoyed attending and participating in local car shows, where he proudly displayed his Buick Regal (purchased new in 1977) and his 2012 Dodge Challenger R/T. He took great care in maintaining and showcasing his vehicles and loved visiting with fellow car enthusiasts. He also enjoyed spending time in his workshop creating woodworking projects, such as toy boxes for his grandchildren, and tackling remodeling projects through the years. A true handyman, Jerry took pride in the many improvements he made for his family. He cherished gathering with friends for a game of cards and maybe a meal, also. Whenever a St Louis Cardinals game was on you could find him watching it.  Above all, Jerry treasured the moments spent with his family, especially the time he shared with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A man of deep faith, Jerry was a devoted and active member of Kentucky Road Christian Church since 1989, faithfully serving as a deacon and living out his beliefs through service, kindness, and fellowship.

Survivors include his wife, Karen Hoagland of Mexico; two children, Jeffrey Hoagland of Mexico and Kimberly (Luke) Gramke of Centralia; four grandchildren, William (Madasyn) Davis of New Bloomfield, Chayse Davis of Mexico, Riley Gramke and Camden Gramke of Centralia; two great-grandchildren, Huxley Phillips-Davis and Bailey Phillips-Davis of New Bloomfield;one sister-in-law, Janet (Jack) Brewer; one nephew, Doug (Kim) Reynolds; one niece, Christina (Josh) Moore; and four step siblings, Ed O'Leary, Kathy Tuley, Helen Burkhardt and Sheree Weddle. He is also survived by three aunts, several cousins and friends.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Allan H. O'Leary, Jr., one brother, Danny Hoagland and one brother-in-law Alan W. Oliver.
