Jennifer Lynne Maddox, 63, of Mexico, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Jennifer was born on May 11, 1961, in Mexico at Audrain Medical Center, the daughter of John Knipp and Rosalie (Poindexter) Wertz. She spent her childhood growing up in and around Martinsburg and Montgomery City.  She and her family even spent a couple of years living in Sulfur Springs, Texas while she was in elementary school.  She graduated from Community R-6 High School in 1979. Jennifer dedicated 35 years of her career to Audrain Medical Center, most of those as secretary on the Critical Care Unit.  For the last six years she worked as a cashier at Dollar General.

Outside of work, Jennifer found joy in sewing and crafting.  Sewing was a passion and skill Jennifer developed at an early age, receiving her first sewing machine as a gift when she was 16.  Whether it was something as simple as hemming a pair of pants or making the most beautiful wedding and prom dresses, there was not much she couldn't do with her sewing machine.  She was the go-to lady amongst her family and friends for all things sewing.  She also had a particular passion for baking, with banana nut, zucchini and pumpkin bread being among her favorite things to make. Her hobbies reflected her love for creating and sharing homemade treats with others.  This is a trait she shared and instilled in both of her daughters and three granddaughters.

Survivors include two daughters, Deirdre Knipp of Mexico and Caitlyn Maddox of Mexico; significant other, Charles Raynor of Mexico; her mother, Rosalie Wertz of Mexico; one brother, Jay Knipp of New Florence; and three grandchildren, Evelynne, Harlin, and Lilliann, all of Mexico, and many extended family members and friends.

Jennifer was preceded in death by her father, John Knipp; two sisters, Julie Knipp and Nancy Surls; her step-father JR Wertz, and her grandparents.
