Janice Gardner Wilkerson was born on April 24, 1942, in Mexico, Missouri to the late Herbert and Mildred Gardner.

She was the second born of seven children. She attended Mexico Public School and at a young age, she obtained the nickname "Sissy" by family and friends, that carried into her adult years.

She was married to Harold M. Wilkerson for four years until his death. Together they were blessed with three wonderful girls.

Sis. Wilkerson was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Mexico, Missouri where she served as an Usher, Sunday School Teacher, and on the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). In 2006 when Janice relocated to Killeen, Texas, she remained faith to her spiritual service and joined under Watch Care at Marlboro Heights Missionary Baptist Church. She was very active including Vacation Bible School and traveling with the church to various services until her health only allowed faithful attendance.

Janice was a dedicated employee at the Audrain Medical Center in Mexico, Missouri. Her career began as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in the Pediatrics Ward and then later she became a Ward Secretary in the same unit. On May 1, 2002, she retired from Audrain Medical Center after 20-years of dedicated service.

For recreation Sis. Janice enjoyed visiting family and friends, crafting, traveling, and sports. Her favorite sport was basketball, with the Boston Celtics being her favorite team. She also loved spending time with her 'grands' and 'great-grands'.

Janice nurtured and sustained her family. Her love for her family and others was an example of a Godly mother and Believer.

She is proceeded in death by her husband (Harold); a daughter (Chanda); both parents (Herbert & Mildred); two brothers (James Gardner and John Gardner); and three sisters (Geraldine Gardner, Mayme Gardner, and Dorothy Forrest).

When Sis. Janice departed this life on January 11, 2023, she left to celebrate her life- two daughters: Rev. Dawn L. Morrison (Eddie); and Trevia L. Gardner both of Killeen, TX; six grandchildren: Canaan D. Gardner of Killeen, TX; LaChanda C. Guinea (Greg) of Kempner, TX; Alex M.L. Gardner of Mexico, MO; Tré M. Scott of Dallas, TX; Victor L. Scott II of Killeen, TX; and Trison D. Gardner of Killeen, TX; seven great-grandchildren; Antwan (15), Camille (9), Kelise (6), Harlem (5), Uriah (5), Khai (4), and K'halani (3). She is also survived by her loving sister, Uverna Brown of Mexico, MO; and a Godson: Travis Simmons of Mexico, MO; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loved ones and treasured friends.
