Helen Margaret Maddox, 96, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, at the Oak Tree Villa in Jefferson City.

A visitation is Thursday, August 25, from 1 -3 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 3 p.m. at East Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Susan Presley officiating.

Helen was born on February 13, 1926, in Fulton, the daughter of Stanley and Martha (Ballmeier) Mirts. On April 9, 1946, in Fulton, she married William F. "Cowboy" Maddox. He passed away on October 28, 1995.

Helen graduated from Fulton High School and worked in bookkeeping/payroll for Oliver Transportation over 40 years.

Mrs. Maddox was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She also volunteered with the Audrain Medical Center Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Janet (Mike) Bloemke of Jefferson City; two granddaughters, Tracy Martin of Overland Park, Kansas, and Alanna Gentges of Jefferson City; three great-grandchildren, Arianna Martin of Overland Park, Kansas, Adeline Gentges and Charlotte Gentges, both of Jefferson City.

In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by two brothers, Bud Mirts and Jack Mirts; and three sisters, Marian "Dutch" Rentschler, Frances Hazelrigg and Betty Ann Mirts.
