Harold Lloyd Strait, Jr., 59, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at the University of Missouri Hospital.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, at Arnold Funeral Home with Pastor Chris Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, at Arnold Funeral Home.
Harold was born on March 5, 1965, in Mexico, the son of Harold Lloyd and Dorothy Mae (Bishop) Strait, Sr. He married Janet Young on January 1, 2011, in Mexico.
He was a proud graduate of Mexico High School, Class of 1983. For many years, Harold worked alongside his father, running a successful construction company. He also held various maintenance jobs around the community, including with the Housing Authority, Mexico Public Schools, and King's Daughters Home.
Harold was a member of First Baptist Church of Laddonia. In addition to his work, he was a passionate outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and woodworking. He had a deep love for his family and took great pride in his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Strait; sister, Cynthia (Brian) Cox of Palmyra; nieces and nephews, Ryan (Christa) Cox, Jason (Nikki) Cox, Cortney (Dustin) Broaddus, Dani (Grant) Grimshaw, David (Haley) Young and Garrett (Hannah) Young; great-nieces, Madison, Maya and Marley Cox and Paisley Broaddus; brothers-in-law, Robert (Cheryl) Young and Randy (Kim) Young; and his beloved dog, Bullet.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Dorothy Strait; and sister, Vicki Strait.
Memorials may be made to ALS Foundation or First Baptist Church of Laddonia. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson St., Mexico, MO 65265.
