Guy Wayne Chase, 97, of Mexico, MO, passed away on February 10, 2026, at the Missouri Veterans Home in Mexico, MO, where he was lovingly cared for.

Guy was born on January 13, 1929, in Farber, MO, the son of Garth W. and Mary (Lemasters) Chase. He was the youngest of three children, Dale, Doris, and then Guy. He attended school in Farber from 1st grade through high school. After graduating in 1947, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp. He married Iva Jean Robison on December 26, 1949, in Vandalia, MO. They were married for more than 70 years.

He attended the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, where he received his bachelors degree in education and a masters degree in administration. He taught school in Ilasko, MO, for two years and then moved the family to Keokuk, IA, in 1955, and taught math in the Junior High and then became the assistant principal. In 1964, he became a partner in the Ed S Lofton and Sons Insurance Agency, and he worked there for the remainder of his working career. He retired in 1984 at the age of 55.

Guy and Jean lived in Keokuk, IA, for nearly 50 years. In 1969, he was instrumental in starting New Testament Christian Church in Keokuk. Guy served as an elder and teacher in the church until they moved to Mexico, MO, in 2002. Over the years, he was also involved in local civic organizations, such as Kiwanis, the Lions Club, Odd Fellows, AFS, etc. He was also active in the local Red Cross chapter and served on the Keokuk Airport Commission for many years. He loved to golf and spent many happy hours at the golf course every chance he got.

He and Jean hosted a foreign exchange student from Australia. They also parented some foster children for different periods of time. They particularly enjoyed their six grandchildren, whom they were devoted to.

In 2002, they moved to Mexico, MO, to care for Jean's mother. Guy got involved in the VFW, Kiwanis and the local golf course, as well as Southside Christian Church, where he served as an elder and teacher for many years. He loved people and enjoyed playing games. He especially enjoyed a number of men with whom he played golf and cards.

Guy was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, his parents and both siblings, as well as his in-laws, Ernest and Nellie Robison, Bill Robison, and Bob Robison.

He is survived by his two children, Steve (Lynn) Chase of Hollister, MO, and Francie (Larry) Roseen of Mexico, MO. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Brian Chase of Wentzville, MO, Sara (Shane) Wood of Webb City, MO, Luke (Kacie) Chase of Louisville, KY, Zack (Amy) Chase of Keokuk, IA, Katie (Paul) Sutherland of Mt. Juliet, TN, and Guy Roseen of Yorkville, IL, sister-in-law, Pat (Earl) Ferguson of Plainfield, IL, 17 great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Southside Christian Church in Mexico, with a graveside later in the day in Vandalia, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family would request memorial donations be made to Southside Christian Academy, 2100 Lakeview Road, Mexico, MO 65265.
