Gregory Charles Morton, (Papa) 71, passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 after a long battle with bvFTD (Frontotemporal Degeneration).

Greg married Bev and they were blessed with three children and ten grandchildren.  A daughter Kristi Schroeder and Brian, grandchildren Benjamin, Jacob, and Samuel; a son Nicholas Morton and Courtney, grandchildren Kaylee, Jackson, Kate, and Addison; a son Josh Morton and Elle, grandchildren Penny, Olive, and Julian.  Greg was one of five children born to Charles and Viola Morton.  Greg had three sisters and one brother.  Charlotte and LaVerle Barr, Karen and Dick Collins, Ida and Eddie Collins, and Jamey and Bridgette Morton.  He had many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Greg was always busy, he never slowed down in both his work or his many interests.  He loved sports, building houses, fishing and hunting.  His favorite sport was playing football in high school and college serving as a co-captain for both teams.  In high school he earned the nickname, "The Galloping Ghost" and we hope he is still catching those TD passes in heaven!  Greg built 4 houses for his family over the years and is most likely still building.  Greg worked for 37 years at Missouri Military Academy with many wonderful people.  He took great pride in his team at MMA and their ability to have the campus and buildings always looking their best.

Greg's greatest gifts came through his children and grandchildren.  Greg was a man of few words, unless someone made the mistake of asking him anything about his kids or grandkids.  They quickly learned he could not say enough about how each one was so talented, kind, and smart. He frequently thanked God for all his blessings.

Greg loved his family and spending one on one time with each of the kids.  He was a great philosopher to both his kids and grandkids.  Greg taught the basics, for instance: football-"always hit them harder than they hit you," and "catch the ball before you run," and track-"cross the last hurdle before you finish the race," and finally for academic achievement-"grades are money," meaning earning scholarships to college.  Papa loved playing football and baseball with the grands and taking them on great adventures including, fishing and hunting and many places we will never know.  The grands now can share that the golden rule after spending time with Papa was, "Don't tell Nana!"

Greg (Papa) was greatly loved by many and we each hold special memories of him that will never be forgotten.  This wonderful man will be greatly missed.
