Gregory Albert Fennewald, 90, of Martinsburg, passed away Saturday, July 12, 2025, at Pin Oaks Living Center in Mexico, Missouri.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 16, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, with Fr. Derek Hooper officiating, assisted by Deacon Ron Deimeke. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the church, followed by a prayer service.

Greg was born on January 27, 1935, in Martinsburg, the son of Albert Joseph and Elizabeth Ann (Youngblood) Fennewald. He attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated from Martinsburg High School in 1953. A lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Parish, Greg lived a life of faith, service, and commitment to his community.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and was a proud member of the Martinsburg American Legion Post 552 for more than 50 years.

On August 27, 1960, he married Donna Jean Brinker at St. Joseph Catholic Church. They would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this August.

Greg farmed alongside his two brothers and later his son, Jeffrey, raising row crops, cattle, and hogs. He also sold Northrup King Seed for over 25 years. In 1987, Greg began a second career selling insurance for the Knights of Columbus, retiring in March 2000. His dedication earned him incentive trips to Rome, Walt Disney World, San Francisco, and Caribbean cruises.

Greg and Donna enjoyed many years at their vacation home at the Lake of the Ozarks, where Greg loved hosting family and friends and giving thrilling rides in his Eliminator, which he named "Donna's Dilemma." He had a lifelong love of speed, earning many speeding tickets and even completing the Richard Petty Driving Experience in Las Vegas and St. Louis. He also greatly enjoyed playing cards with family, friends, and strangers in Las Vegas.

In 1984, Greg and Donna were honored with the Dale H. Schnarre Rural Citizen Award.

A member of the Knights of Columbus since 1954, Greg served as Grand Knight of Martinsburg Council #1270 and as Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Bishop Leo J. Steck Assembly, along with several other leadership roles. He also served his community in many ways, including as a Boy Scout leader and as a board member for the Martinsburg Farmers Elevator, Martinsburg Community Fire Department, Martinsburg Manor, Central Missouri Irrigation Association, Handi-Shop Inc., the Agriculture Advisory Committee for U.S. Rep. Harold Volkmer, and multiple boards and committees at St. Joseph Catholic Church and School. He was also chairman of the church renovation project in 2002.

Greg is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Fennewald, of the home; four children: Jeffrey (Patty) Fennewald of Martinsburg, Daniel (Amy) Fennewald of Lakeville, Minnesota, Suzanne (Brian) Pursifull of Mexico, and Jill (Troy) Rafferty of Laddonia; eight grandchildren: Allen (Lia) Fennewald, Luke Fennewald, Sophie Fennewald, Will Fennewald (Macie Gavic), Isaac Fennewald, Jake Fennewald, Levi Rafferty (Maddie Rhodes), and Rylee Rafferty; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Fennewald and Betty Pursifull; and brother-in-law, Leroy (Virginia) Brinker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, A.J. and Elizabeth Fennewald; a grandson, Zachary Fennewald; siblings and spouses, Alphonse (Kathleen), Thomas, and Philip (June) Fennewald, Ruth (CS) Bertels and Edith Fennewald; his father and mother-in-law, Elroy and Edna Elizabeth (Blaue) Brinker; and brother-in-law, John Pursifull.
