Wilson Gene Nettles, 81, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Private services will be held at Arnold Funeral Home.

Gene was born on April 29, 1941, in Paducah, Kentucky, the son of Orlen Gene and Mary (Moore) Nettles. On May 25, 2002, in Mexico, he married Harriet Reidlinger.

Mr. Nettles worked for Missouri Power and Light/Ameren UE. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and raising his elk. He was an honorary member of the Elk Association.

Survivors include his wife, Harriet Nettles of the home; his children, Don (Martha) Nettles of St. Charles, Karen (Barry) Nordwald of Paris, Monte (Lori) Nettles of Lehi, Utah, Corey (Julie) Nettles of Columbia, Andrew Wehmeyer of Madison, Cynthia (Ted) Seiler of Macon, Debra (Greg) Cleghorn of Osceola, Iowa, and Kristina (Richard) Thompson of Stanwood, Washington; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Orlen and Mary Nettles; and one sister, Maureen Nettles.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Both may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
