Ernest Robert Broeker, 78, of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his home.

A Celebration of Life will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, at Southside Christian Church with military honors. Chris Harley will be officiating.

Ernest was born on February 1, 1946, in St. Charles County, the son of Robert and Alma (Sontag) Broeker. He married Lettie Stoneberger on August 29, 1969.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Ernest served his country during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, Ernest applied his skills and determination to build a life for their family. He lovingly constructed their family home, a testament to his perseverance, craftsmanship, and devotion. Ernest was known for his love of gardening, often he was found tending to vegetables.

He is survived by his wife, Lettie; two sons, Ronnie Broeker of Mexico and Russell (Angie) Broeker of Mississippi; three grandchildren, Andre Broeker, Cheyenne (Mike) Clark and Carrie Broeker all of North Carolina; two brothers, Lester (Priscilla) Broeker of Florida and Al Broeker of Lake Ozark; and three nieces, Reva, Rita and Robin.

Ernest was preceded in death by a sister, Arlene Broeker; and a nephew, Ricky Kelsay.
