Dorothy E. Strouse passed away peacefully December 26, 2021.  She was born in Detroit, Michigan, August 30, 1927 to proud first-generation Belgium immigrants who instilled in her a profound love of country.  Her love of America was second only to her love of God and family, both of which were the center of her life.  She and her husband Charles came to Mexico, Missouri in November of 1958.  They remained part of this community until their passing.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, December 31, 2021 at St. Brendan Catholic Church with Father Tom Alber officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Brendan Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Friday, December 31 from 12:00 noon until time of services at Arnold Funeral Home.

Survivors include six children, Susan Baird of Republic, Steven (Laurie) Strouse of Ozark, Cynthia (Tim) Uebele of Colleyville, TX, Tom (Kay) Strouse of Sedalia, Sandra (Todd) Baker of Chesterfield, Mary (Tom) Hawkins of Arlington, TX; one brother, George Vens of Bettendorf, IA; one sister-in-law, Sue Vens of Phoenix, AZ; one daughter-in-law, Rheba Ryan; twenty grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by two husbands, Walter I. Ryan and Dr. Charles A. Strouse; her first born son, Richard A. Ryan; two brothers, Raymond Vens, Marvin Vens; one brother-in-law, Dr. William Strouse; three sisters-in-law, Peggy Strouse, Verla Vens, Delores Vens; two sons-in-law, Dr. James R. Houchens and Sherwin (Sandy) Baird.

The family of Mrs. Strouse on behalf of their parents would like to express their gratitude to the community of Mexico and all the wonderful people that made their life so special.
