Dorothy Ann Rummans, 84, of Mexico, entered into Paradise on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 26, at Elmwood Cemetery.

Dorothy was born on February 11, 1939, in Mexico, the daughter of Hubert and Mary Violet (Lue) Fisher.

In earlier years, she worked for Bello's Pizza. She then became a preschool teacher at Happy House and Courtney's Child Care Center for many years.

Dorothy, affectionately known as "Dot" & "Dotty" loved her hometown of Mexico, MO, where she attended Garfield School, and was a proud member of the first black majorette team. She enjoyed reminiscing about her days on the team, and held on to her uniforms to this day.

More than anything, Dot enjoyed spending time with her children whether it was playing cards & board games, listening to music, dancing, or backyard barbeques. She also enjoyed arts & crafts and could turn anything she encountered, or envisioned into beautiful artistry. She loved cleaning & decorating her home where she displayed much of her handicrafts.

Dotty was so beautiful inside & out. She had such an amazing & infectious smile. The family always boasts about how she was able to maintain all of her beautiful pearly whites for her entire lifetime! Dot was a great financial manager and she was very generous in her giving. She loved helping people and she had a beautiful heart & spirit. She never turned anyone down in their time of need. She wanted to see everyone succeed.

For much of Dot's life she was a Christian & donated to Saint Paul CME Church of Mexico. More recently, she took her Shahada & converted to Islam. She was a proud Muslim along with her daughter Regina, grandchildren Ryan & Regis, and her nephew-son Rydell.

Dot had many talents and attributes, but she was also very humble. She told the family to keep everything "Simple". We will honor your wishes & your sweet memories, our Beautiful Queen! We will love you always, we will miss you dearly, and we will see you again in Paradise, Inshallah (God-willing)!

May Allah be pleased with you mother, just as your earthly family will always be, and may you reach the Highest Level of Jannah (Paradise)! Inna Lillahi wa Inna ilayhi raji'un "Indeed, to God we belong and to God we shall return! As-Salamu Alaykum (Peace Be Upon You)! WE LOVE YOU MOMMY!!

Survivors include six children, Michael Lee Rummans of Mexico, Don Lorenzo Rummans of Mexico, Arron L. Rummans of Kansas City, Lori Ann Rummans of Kansas City, Regina Ann Trice of Kansas City, and Torlen Lee Rummans of Columbia; many grandchildren including the two she helped raise, Ryan Rummans and Regis Rummans, both of Kansas City; one brother, David Fisher of Mexico; and a sister, Judy Ann (Lloyd) Hester of Jefferson City; several nieces and nephews, including one who was like a son, Rydell Fisher of Fulton.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Tony Rummans; four brothers, Richard, Harold, Jerry and Gene Fisher; and one grandson, Tornez Burton-Rummans.
